KARACHI: SCBA polls on 28th

KARACHI, Oct 21: Senior lawyers from across Sindh will cast their votes for the new office-bearers of the Supreme Court Bar Association here on Oct 28.

Out of the total of 1,623 voters, 752 belong to Lahore, 280 to Sindh, 230 to Islamabad-Rawalpindi, 160 to the NWFP, 83 to Balochistan, 72 to Multan and 46 to Bahawalpur.

Contesting the main offices are Ali Ahmad Kurd and Muhammad Zafar (president); Syed Jamil Ahmed, Shaukat Umar Pirzada and Farooq Zaman Qureshi (secretary); Iqbal Mahmood Awan and Javed Jalal Mian (vice-president for Punjab); Muhammad Sohail Hayat Khan Rana and Sheikh Faqir Mohammad Javed (vice-president for Sindh); Muhammad Jamil Khan and M. Saeed Akhtar Khan (vice-president for the NWFP) and Mohammad Ayaz Khan Swati and Zahid Hussain Malik (vice-president for Balochistan). Abdul Haq Malik, Ch Tajammal Murad and Zulfikar Khalid Maluka are vying for the office of additional secretary and Haji Muhammad Rafi Siddiqui and Sheikh Ehsanuddin for that of the finance secretary.

Candidates for the executive membership from Sindh are: Haji Shafi Mohammad Chandio, Jawaid Ahmad Siddiqui, Shamsuddin Khalid Ahmed Ansari and Ziaul Haq Makhdoom.
