Ali to face Faraz in final

KARACHI, Oct 19: Punjab’s Ali Bokhari, the third seed, stormed into the boys’ under-15 final when he pulled off the first upset, prevailing over second seed Bilal Zakir of the PAF in four games semi-final of the Hasan Musa Squash Championship at the Hyderabad Gymkhana court on Sunday.

Ali emerged 9-3, 2-9, 10-8, 9-5 victorious against his opponent in 48 minutes to set a date with top seed and left hander Faraz Mohammad of PAF who in the other encounter, inflicted 4-9, 10-8, 9-6, 9-3 victory over Sindh’s fourth seed Saad Shahid in 45 minutes.

Meanwhile, top seed Habiba Khan of Sindh and second seed Riffat Khan of Punjab also made it to the girls’ under-15 final in contrasting styles.

Habiba proved too good for her province-mate Ayesha Zafar winning 9-2, 9-1, 9-0 while Riffat Khan got a walkover against Sindh Mahrukh Shaikh.

Both the finals will be played on Monday.

Boys’ under-15 semi-finals: Faraz Mohammad (PAF) bt Saad Shahid (Sindh) 4-9, 10-8, 9-6, 9-3; Ali Bokhari (Punjab) bt Bilal Zakir (PAF) 9-3, 2-9, 10-8, 9-5.

Girls’ under-15 semi-finals:

Habiba Khan (Sindh) bt Ayesha Zafar (Sindh) 9-2, 9-1, 9-0; Riffat Khan (Punjab) walkover Mahrukh Shaikh (Sindh).

Monday’s fixtures:

Girls’ final: Habiba Khan (Sindh) v Riffat Khan (Punjab) at 3.00pm.

Boys’ final: Faraz Mohammad (PAF) v Ali Bokhari (Punjab) at 3.45pm.
