CHARSADDA, Oct 19: A local court sent a US national of Pakistani origin to the judicial lock-up for 14 days here on Sunday. Jude Kenan, whose local name is Jawad Ali, had been arrested at a checkpoint on way to the troubled Mohmand tribal region on Oct 13.

He was produced in the court of Civil Judge Mohammad Ghayyas Khan on Sunday. The court sent him to the judicial lock-up when the police did not press for more remand.

Lawyer Ghawas Khan, who appeared for the accused, told journalists that Jude had come to Pakistan to meet his father Taj Mohammad, a resident of Darra Adamkhel. He said that the accused was going for a visit to the Mohmand Agency when he was arrested at a checkpoint by the Saro Kallay police station.

SHO Saro Kallay police station avoided to provide any detail to the journalists regarding the detained US citizen. Mr Kenan’s father was also present in the court. —Correspondent
