Traders protest outages

BAHAWALPUR, Oct 18: The Sirafa Association organised a protest rally here on Saturday against the increasing power loadshedding in the city.

The association’s office-bearers and members gathered at Kalan Chowk and raised slogans against Mepco authorities. Later, representatives of other trader organisations also joined the protest.

The protesters marched toward Shahi Bazaar and then toward Farid Gate, where they blocked traffic for an hour and burnt tyres.

They demanded that Mepco authorities announce a loadshedding schedule and curtail its duration. They said they would go on strike if their demands were not met.
