LARKANA: Development projects reviewed

LARKANA, Oct 17: Sindh Additional Chief Secretary, Development and Planning, Nazar Hussain Mahar, has asked the works and services department to immediately invite tenders for work on uplift schemes under the Larkana Development Package.

Speaking at a meeting in this regard here on Friday, he said that the Sindh government had provided Rs2 billion under the package.

The meeting reviewed the progress on the district’s annual development programme. Mr Mahar asked the relevant officials not to compromise on quality of the work.

DCO Abdul Aziz Uqaili briefed the addition chief secretary on development activities under the package so far undertaken by the district government. He said more funds would be required to complete some schemes of the ADP.

Project Director Saindino Mirani said that around 10 schemes pertaining to roads would be started at a cost of Rs2,935 million. The federal government would bear 70 per cent of the cost and the Sindh government would provide rest of the amount, he said.

Superintendent Engineer, Highways Department, Sukkur, Ghulam Qadir Leghari, said that the National Highway Authority had been assigned to undertake work on the widening, reconditioning and strengthening of Moenjodaro-Larkana, Larkana-Naudero, Naudero-Lakhi Ghulam Shah, Larkana-Qamber, Qamber-Shahdadkot, Larkana-Nasirabad and Ratodero-Naudero roads.

Besides, the provincial highway department had been entrusted to undertake the rehabilitation of the roads from Radhan to Moenjodaro, Badah to Moenjodaro, Dokri to Nasirabad and Qamber to Ratodero at a cost of Rs1,060 million, he said.
