KOHAT, Oct 16: Security forces claimed on Thursday to have arrested 13 militants holed up in Tor Chappar area during the last two weeks.

Officials said that the operation clean up was carried out in Tor Chappar area on Wednesday and 13 militants were held. They had been shifted to the security forces camp for interrogation to confirm their identity.

Meanwhile, the security forces had intensified artillery attacks on the hideouts of militants in the mountains of Darra Adamkhel following rocket attacks at Kohat cantonment on Wednesday night.

Militants were targeting Kohat and security checkposts in Darra Adamkhel with mortar shells for the last few days. The security forces launched an artillery attack from OTS road Kohat and targeted the mountains of Darra Adamkhel, connecting it with Orakzai region and Bostikhel hilly area.

The firing which started around Wednesday evening continued till small hours of Thursday without any break. The whole city echoed with the heavy artillery firing and people spent a sleepless night.

COMPENSATION: The administration of Orakzai tribal region had so far registered 99 tribesmen who were killed in the suicide blast last Friday, for payment of compensation to their families.

Officials told Dawn on Thursday that so far they had registered 99 people including the two injured, who expired on Tuesday night at a hospital in Peshawar. But still there were 21 people missing and the teams constituted to visit each and every village to register names of the victims of suicide blast were engaged in their work. —Correspondent
