KARACHI: Seven killed in acts of violence

KARACHI, Oct 16: Seven people were killed on Thursday in acts of violence in different parts of the city, police and witnesses said.
They said that a 28-year-old man was shot dead allegedly by the brothers of his second wife in Lines Area.
The Brigade police said that Ayaz Hussain, a chicken meat seller, was shot dead at his house in Sector 11-A by the brothers of his second wife, Almas.
They said that a case (275/2008) was registered against Wajahat, Shafique and Tanveer under Section 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the victim’s first wife, Anam.
The police said that the suspects fled the scene after killing the man.
The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where sources said the victim was shot two bullets in the upper torso from a close range as the bullets pierced the body.
Young man shot dead
A 30-year-old man was shot dead late in the night in Defence Housing Authority.
The Gizri police said that Salim Arian was killed by the security guards at an under construction house adjacent to the victim’s house on Khayaban-i-Shahbaz.
The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for an autopsy.
The police said that the victim had run the election campaign of Irfan Ullah Marwat.
They said the guard fled the scene after the shooting.
Killed by bandits
A 45-year-old man was shot dead during a robbery in Shadman Town.
Shahrah-i-Noorjahan police said that two bandits intercepted Syed Masood Alam, a resident of Sector 7D-1 in North Karachi, near Anda More and snatched his phone and motorcycle.
They said that the dacoits became jittery and opened fire when the victim struggle with them.
The police said that the victim died on the spot and his body was later shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a postmortem examination.
They said that the victim was a construction contractor and was on his way back home when he was waylaid.
Targeted killing
A 25-year-old man was killed and his two friends were wounded when two unknown attackers on a motorcycle sprayed them with bullets in Keamari.
The Jackson police said that Mohammed Rizwan, son of Aslam, an employee of the fisheries department, was sitting near Darbar Estate Agency at Jadoon Centre when he was attacked.
They said that fisheries worker was killed instantly and his friends were wounded in the attack.
The police said that the attackers, one of whom covered his face with a helmet, rode away after their swift operation.
The body and the injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital.
The police said that the incident seemed to be motivated by a personal enmity.
No case was registered till late as the police were still waiting for a complaint from the victim’s family who were stated to be busy with the funeral.
Security manager shot dead
A 45-year-old manager of a security company was shot dead in his office on Khalid Bin Walid Road.
The Ferozabad police said that unknown culprits shot dead Ismail Khattak and fled the scene.
They said that the victim’s driver informed the police of the incident and the police shifted the body to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a postmortem examination.
The police said that the victim’s driver went missing after he reported the matter to the police. No case was registered till late, they said.
Cable operator killed
A 25-year-old cable operator was shot dead in Orangi Town late at night.
The victim, identified as Nasir, son of Subhani, was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where sources said the victim had received two bullets in his upper torso.
The police said that the man was shot dead by unknown culprits at Sector 19-E.
Succumbed to bullet wounds
A 25-year-old jeweller, who was shot and wounded on Wednesday in a bungled robbery in Orangi Town, succumbed to his wounds at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Inayat Hussain, and his younger brother, Ishtiaq, were wounded during a bungled robbery at their jewellery shop in Sher Shah.
One of the two dacoits, identified as Zubair, was arrested by the public.
