KARACHI, Oct 15: With few exceptions, most of the provincial sports associations affiliated with the Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) have received token grant of Rs 25,000 apiece from the Sindh government by Wednesday.

The Rs0.8 million released to the SOA units after almost a decade is aimed at uplift of sports in the province.

The SOA has 32 affiliated units sans athletics and cycling which are disputed.

The officials of sailing, rowing, canoeing and softball have not yet approached the SOA officials.

In addition, the Sindh minister for Sports has also released an amount of Rs 3,20,000 on account of daily allowance for a fortnight camp of different disciplines in preparation for the next month’s third Inter-provincial youth games at Peshawar.
