SHIKARPUR: Clerks on strike

SHIKARPUR, Oct 14: Members of the All Pakistan Clerks’ Association, Population Welfare Department unit, continued their token hunger strike on the second consecutive day at Lakhi Gate Tower Chowk here on Tuesday to protest the delay in the acceptance of their demands.
Shakeel Ahmed Pahore, Aurangzeb Soomro, Ghulam Shabbir Memon and other employees of the District Population Welfare participated in the token hunger strike.
Earlier, protesters wearing black armbands took out a rally from their district office and marching through various city roads reached the residence of the provincial minister, Agha Taimoor Khan, to record their protest against the non-acceptance of their demands.
The rally was led by the district president of the All Pakistan Clerks’ Association, Shikarpur, Abdul Wahab Kagzi, senior vice-president of the Population Welfare Department unit and Mohammad Aslam Sheedi.
The protesters after staging demonstration observed the hunger strike.
The APCA leaders expressed their concern over the attitudes of the provincial minister, additional secretary and other authorities and condemned registration of false cases against the senior employees of the department.
They appealed to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Senior Minister Syed Pir Mazharul Haq to order withdrawal of fake cases against the employees of their department.
