KARACHI, Oct 14: Pakistan Commercial Exporters of Towels Association chairman Ali Ashraf Khan has demanded immediate cancellation of privatisation deal of the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) as it has plunged the biggest metropolis of Pakistan, Karachi, and its trade and industry into a darkness that is showing no signs of an end.

In a statement, he said the new owners did not invest a single penny in the utility after they had bought it at a throw away price and over which they enjoyed monopoly.

They have been pushing up tariff beyond the tolerance level of consumers which has given a severe jolt to trade and industry.

He termed the recent increase in power tariff unprecedented and demanded its immediate withdrawal.
