RAWALPINDI, Oct 13: A special judge of anti-terrorism court on Monday directed the police to submit on October 23 a charge-sheet against Hameedullah Mehsud, a suspected suicide bomber who was arrested soon after the Wah twin suicide blasts in August.

On August 21 two suicide bombers blew themselves up outside the gates of Pakistan Ordnance Factory Wah Cantt killing more than 70 people and injuring over 100 people. An explosive vest was also recovered by the police from the toilet of a nearby mosque.

Police registered a criminal case against the unknown persons under sections 302, 324, 435, 436, 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), sections 3 and 4 of explosive act and section 7 of terrorism act.

Hameedullah Mehsud, during the investigation, said besides him there were three persons involved in the bombings and among them Murad and Sowrat Khan carried out the blasts while Bakhtair escaped. On the information obtained from the accused, police recovered explosive vests, hand grenades and other explosives from Akora Khattak in Nowshera district on August 25 and a case was registered against him with the area police.

The judge in another case directed the federal investigation agency to submit a charge sheet against three persons arrested for allegedly planning to carry out suicide attacks on the offices of senior police officials in the city and adjourned the hearing till October 18.

The three accused Khurram Ishtiaq a resident of Rawalpindi, Shamim Alam a resident of South Waziristan and Ghulam Mustafa a resident of Kahuta were arrested by the FIA on August 24 and recovered explosive vests and other materials from them.

The posters of eight other accused Mohammad Tayyab Mehmood, Usman and Abdul Rahim all residents of Sargodha, Qari Hussain, Habibullah residents of South Waziristan, Sajid Dilore, Qari Saleem residents of Miran Shah and Ustad had been issued by the court as they are wanted by the agency in this case.

Meanwhile, a civil judge extended the physical remand of a man arrested from Benazir Bhutto Airport for two more days. Airport Security Force arrested Zahid Hussian from the airport on October 9 when he was going towards domestic departure lounge while wearing a veil and joggers. Police booked him for criminal conspiracy and dishonesty. Police said they wanted to obtain information from the accused about his other partners and interrogate him for hiding himself in the veil.
