Criticism makes me stronger: Shoaib

Published October 12, 2008

TORONTO, Oct 11: Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar said on Friday that criticism makes him stronger to perform in the field, adding that journalists who write against him are his good friends.

“It motivates me to perform and makes me bigger as compared to others,” Shoaib told a group of reporters.

The paceman further said that captaining Pakistan is the most difficult job, but interestingly, he added, Shoaib Malik is playing his role as skipper admirably.

Shoaib said he was looking forward to play his role for Pakistan’s success, adding he was particularly focusing on the showpiece game against Sri Lanka on Saturday.

“Sri Lanka are the best team; they possess a formidable batting line-up and I want to perform against them. I am fully fit and eagerly awaiting the game against Sri Lanka,” he remarked.

He said whenever he enters the cricket arena he wants to produce his best, while leaving the rest to Allah The Almighty.

Describing Pakistan team a good combination, the pace bowler hoped if they play to their top form there will be no stopping for them.—APP
