KARACHI: 31 KBCA officers suspended

KARACHI, Oct 11: Sindh Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Khan Durrani has suspended 31 officers of the Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) who include town building control officers of Saddar, Liaquatabad and Lyari.

The minister has also constituted a five-member committee to look into the officers’ failure in controlling illegal constructions within their jurisdictions. The committees have been asked to investigate the matter, fix responsibility and submit a report to the minister within 30 days.

Mr Durrani said that the KBCA was an important institution bearing responsibility of regulating housing industry and ensuring construction of buildings in accordance with the prescribed codes, rules and regulations.

“It is imperative that all KBCA officers discharge their duties with utmost devotion and dedication to ensure that no building is built illegally,” he said, adding that the suspended officers had repeatedly been warned to control illegal constructions but they failed to show the desired results.—APP
