KARACHI, Oct 10: Habib Bank Limited (HBL) beat Afghan FC 2-0 while the matches between Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC), and Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Pakistan Steel resulted in 2-2 draws in the three Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) encounters here on Friday.

The first match between HBL and Afghan FC at the People’s Sports Complex saw the first goal coming in the 41st minute when HBL’s striker Zakir Lashari converted winger Aurangzeb’s pass to make the score 1-0 at interval.

The second session saw HBL doubling their lead in the 88th minute through striker Mohammad Ishtiaq to seal the match’s fate.

The second match between PIA and KESC, played at the same venue, saw KESC chasing PIA to level with them twice. PIA’s first goal through their striker Shakir Lashari in the

39th minute followed by KESC’s in the 55th by their winger Aftab.

The 61st minute saw Shakir scoring again for PIA but parity was restored once more by KESC through their striker Lal Mohammad Lalo in the 85th minute.

Shakir, meanwhile, has become the highest goal scorer in the tournament with 10 goals so far.

But another individual effort by Steel’s midfielder Mohammad Arshad brought in the leveller in the 36th minute to even the score at interval.

The second session saw KPT getting ahead once again through their winger Abdul Rehman in the 55th minute but only to be caught up by Pakistan Steel in the final moments.

Saturday’s fixture: Army v PTV at the Army Stadium, Rawalpindi, at 4.00pm.
