SOA meets today

By Our Sports Correspondent

KARACHI, Oct 9: The executive committee and general body of the Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) meet for the first time in nine months at the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium on Friday to discuss matters pertaining to promotion of sports in the province.

According to the agenda, the executive committee will meet at 8.00pm while the general body takes place at 9.00pm with Sindh Sports Minister, Dr Mohammad Ali Shah, who is also president of the SOA, in the chair.

The orthopaedic surgeon was unanimously elected president of the SOA for a term of four year in the POA supervised elections held in the city on Jan 22.

Surprisingly, no official meeting could take place since the quadrennial election due to pre-occupation of the incumbent.

The sports activities in the province are in turmoil and those occupying offices in different provincial sports associations are sitting idle for want of funds.

The third Inter-provincial youth games slated at Peshawar are round the corner. To send hurriedly picked teams to the NWFP capital will be exercise in futility.
