Prolonged outages annoy people

Published October 10, 2008

SUKKUR, Oct 9: Many parts of the city suffered power breakdown on Thursday evening following the suspension of power supply to the city’s grid station from the Hesco’s regional control centre in Hyderabad.

On Thursday, when power supply was restored most of the areas experienced low voltage and people were forced to turn most of their essential electronic appliances off.

After braving outages during the entire day long, citizens once again had to suffer another spell of load-shedding during the night. Almost half of the city plunged into darkness at around 8.25pm.

The superintendent engineer grid stations, Sukkur, Mushtaq Qureshi, told this scribe that power outages had been caused due to overloading of transformers at Lodra grid station near Shikarpur.

Lodra grid station, sub station officer-I Juman Khan said that all the transformers were in proper working condition.
