RAWALPINDI, Oct 9: District and Sessions Judge (DSJ) here on Thursday handed over a one-month-old baby to his mother after the in-laws of the woman allegedly snatched the child from her.

DSJ Attaullah Kosar handed over the 28 days old Mohammad Sahil to his claimant mother Amina Bibi with the observation that minors could not be kept away from their mothers.

The DSJ on Wednesday appointed Malik Lal Khan as court bailiff to recover the minor from the house of his father Zubait in Bucha village in the area of Mandra police but the child was not handed over to the bailiff.

The father and grandfather of the child told the bailiff that Amina belonged to the NWFP and could take the child to the tribal areas making it impossible for them to recover the child.

The bailiff directed the area police to produce the child in the court of DSJ with his father on Thursday.

The woman in her petition maintained that she was present in the house of her ailing father where her in-laws came and forcibly took away the child. He had prayed to the court that the minor should be handed over to her as he was too young to be kept away from his mother.

Meanwhile a judicial magistrate sent a woman to Darul Aman after she said she had married a man of her choice and did not want to go to the house of her parents who had got registered an abduction case with Murree police.

Judge Chaudhry Toufiq Ahmed sent Shabnam Bibi to Darul Aman after she stated that she had married Mohammad Asif of Azad Kashmir one month ago of her free will.

She said she was not abducted by her husband and she wanted to live with him.

The court directed the police to release the arrested Asif in view of the statement of his wife.
