RAWALPINDI, Oct 9: Police on Thursday arrested a man for making an overnight call to the authorities that he would carry out bombing in the city while a school boy was also arrested for issuing a warning to the authorities that a bomb has been planted in a school, but the call turned out to be hoax.

The Rescue 1122 received a call on late Wednesday night and the caller threatened that he would bomb the Rawalpindi city. However the police traced the caller who was identified as Abdul Wali, a resident of Pirwadhai.

The school boy informed the authorities on Wednesday that a bomb had been planted in a school building in the Cantonment area.

Soon after receiving the call, a bomb disposal squad and police searched the school building but could not find any explosive.

The caller, who identified himself with a fake name as Fahid, turned out to be Gulzar Ahmad, a resident of Norawal. He was a 10th class student at a Lalazar school.

OUR REPORTER adds: Later on Thursday, Sadiqabad police obtained one day physical remand of Abdul Wali.

Police obtained the remand of the accused Abdul Wali a resident of Fauji colony Pirwadhai from area Magistrate Mohammad Anwarul Haq Gondal as the special judge anti-terrorism court was not available.

The police sought seven days physical custody of the accused with a view to extracting some information about his other associates.

He was arrested on October 8 and booked under section 25-D of Telegraphic Act and section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act.

Meanwhile, an additional district and sessions judge (ASJ) issued the arrest warrants of a station house officer and attached his salary for not complying with the court orders about submitting his comments in response to a petition filed for not registering an FIR.

ASJ Rana Mohammad Ali issued the arrest warrant of the SHO Westridge Police on September 25 for not filing his comments in response to the petition filed by Mohammad Mansoor who alleged that he had an agreement with Mohammad Yehya about the sale of his house but the cheques he received where dishonoured by the banks.
