TIMERGARA: Sufi rejects government’s Sharia draft
By Our Correspondent
TIMERGARA, Oct 9: Rejecting the proposed draft of Nizam-i-Adl Regulation 2008, Tehrik Nifaz Shariat-i-Muhammadi (TNSM) has declared to stage a sit-in for indefinite period in the Rest House Ground till enforcement of Islamic Sharia and restoration of peace in Malakand region.
Addressing a big rally for the first time after his release from jail, TNSM chief Maulana Sufi Mohammad said that the sit-in would continue till the enforcement of Shariat-i-Muhammadi in its true spirit in Malakand region.
The rally was attended by over 1,800 black turbaned activists of TNSM. Over four hundred workers staged a sit-in at Rest House Ground, Timergara. The Maulana termed Taliban activities in Bajaur and Swat as “illegal and unlawful”.
He also rejected the proposed draft of Nizam-i-Adl Regulation 2008 by the NWFP government on the grounds that it was ‘contrary to Quran and Sunnah’. He demanded of the government to implement Sharia for which TNSM had launched a peaceful movement in the ambit of the law of land. He said that the sit-in would continue till its logical end.
“Soon after the announcement of Islamic Sharia in the region I myself will visit Swat to convince Fazlullah’s men to lay down their arms,” he said. He said that TNSM would declare jihad against them if Swat Taliban refused to give up fighting.
“Sharia and peace are synonymous. Both can’t exist and flourish sans each other,” he added.
POWER SUSPENSION: Residents of Mayar area in Lower Dir are facing great difficulties owing to power suspension for the last three days. They demanded of the authorities concerned to repair transformer of the area, which was out of order.
They said that owing to the power suspension they could not get water from tube-wells. “We are living in darkness and could not get water for daily use as tube-wells have become non-functional owing to disruption of electricity,” a resident said. He said that they were short of water for drinking purpose let alone washing clothes and utensils.
