LAHORE, Oct 8: Nearly 4,000 police officials will perform security and traffic duty during the four-day religious congregation beginning at Raiwind from Thursday (today).
At a meeting held here on Wednesday to discuss arrangements for the event, SSP (operations) Chaudhry Shafiq said 3,000 police officials equipped with latest weapons and metal detectors would be deployed for conducting security check of the vehicles and participants in the congregation. More than 500 policemen would be on duty in plainclothes and a police reserve would be deployed only for checking of vehicles.
Traffic DIG Ghalib Bandesha said a comprehensive traffic plan had been prepared for the vehicles bringing the participants to the congregation. Two SPs, 13 DSPs, 51 senior traffic wardens and 762 traffic wardens would be on duty to control traffic.
