KARACHI: Quake anniversary

KARACHI, Oct 7: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that the nation has not forgotten the heavy loss of life and widespread devastation caused by the Oct 8, 2005 massive earthquake even after passage of three years. He appreciated the way the whole nation, demonstrating exemplary solidarity with the victims, helped rehabilitate all those affected by the quake.

In a statement, he noted that the federal government and the institutions concerned were continuously associated with the rehabilitation process.

Meanwhile, the city government has organised a walk on Wednesday on the occasion of the quake anniversary to foster awareness of national disasters.

The walk will start from Bagh Ibn-i-Qasim and terminate at the Mazar of Abdullah Shah Ghazi. — APP
