‘New PCB chief to be named soon’

By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, Oct 5: The Federal Law Minister Farooq H. Naek said on Sunday that the new Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman would be named shortly.

The minister, addressing a press conference at the Directorate of Human Rights to brief the media about various issues of human rights and national concern, also said that a proposal for a five-member committee of senior players with a mandate to take all decisions regarding cricket in Pakistan was also under consideration.

“Proposals in this regard have already been sought from some senior cricketers and suggestions from other cricketers would also be welcome,” the minister said while expressing his optimism over the game’s regaining its lost glory.

The conference was also attended by former Pakistan captains Ramiz Raja, Wasim Akram, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Saeed Anwar.

The PCB is without a chairman since Dr Nasim Ashraf resigned in August.
