Aamir bows out of English tournament


KARACHI, Oct 5: Pakistan’s Aamir Atlas Khan failed to qualify for the final of Wolverhampton Open as he lost to second seed Laurens Jan Anjema of the Netherlands at the Wolverhampton Lawn Tennis and Squash Club in Wolverhampton, England.

The Dutch took 37 minutes to thrash Aamir 11-1, 11-3, 11-3.

Anjema will face top seed Adriant Grant of England in the final of the $30,000 event.

Meanwhile, in an epic 73-minute encounter against fellow countryman Alister Walker, favourite Grant showed no signs of fatigue. He overcame Walker’s challenge with greater consistency, aligned with smooth and efficient movement to win with scores of 11-9, 9-11, 11-6, 11-3.
