Youth throws acid on four picnickers


FAISALABAD, Oct 5: A youth threw acid on four people, including two women, at Canal Park here on Sunday.

According to the police, Latifan Bibi, 35, along with her daughter Maryam, 15, and relatives Akram and Dilshad, went to the Canal Park on Samundri Road. As they were returning home, Asif threw acid on them. They were taken to the Allied Hospital for burns. The police are investigating.

Accident: Two persons were killed and several injured when a van collided head-on with a mini-truck on Tandlianwala-Okara Road on Sunday.

Inspector Qaisar Younis, the Bahlak police SHO, said a van (SLK-8876) was coming to Tandlianwala from Okara when its tie-rod dislocated and it collided with an oncoming mini-truck (LHO-2835). As a result, eight-year-old Mubeen died on the spot while 20 others suffered injuries and were taken to the Tandlianwala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

Nine of them were referred to the Allied Hospital owing to their critical condition, where Zunaira Bibi, 15, expired.—APP
