RAWALPINDI, Oct 5: Two women were killed in road accidents on Sunday, police said.

In the first incident, 38-year-old Yasmin was traveling on a motorcycle with her husband in the jurisdiction of Kohsar police station when a car coming from behind hit them, killing the woman on the spot.

The injured Munir Masih was shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) where he is stated to be in stable condition.

The car driver was identified as Ziaur Rehman who was taken into custody by the police. His vehicle has also been impounded.

In another incident, Shaista Bibi was killed after being hit by a car in Wah Cantonment. She was walking along the road when a car (LOR-9781) knocked her down.

Meanwhile, two Punjab Constabulary (PC) officials were shot and injured by two gunmen on Saturday night near Rawat, police said. Yasir Mehmood, one of the injured victims, told the police that he and his colleague, Faryad Hussain, were going towards a kiosk when two strangers intercepted them on the pretext of seeking direction towards a nearby village.

They asked them to sit in their car and travel along with them. He said they had hardly traveled a few yards when the strangers pulled out their pistols and forced them to give up cash. When they resisted, they shot and injured the two PC officials, and disappeared in the dark after dropping them.

VEHICLES STOLEN: Three vehicles were taken away by thieves while four people lost cash and other valuables in different parts of the city, police said on Sunday.

Malik Mumtaz Ali’s car was stolen from Satellite Town while Ghafoor Ahmed and Ibrahim lodged separate complaints with the Civil Lines police of car theft.

Niaz Mohammad complained to the Airport police that some burglars broke into his house and made off with gold jewellery worth Rs143,000 and Rs5,000 cash.

Similarly, Mohammad Azeem lost Rs350,000 and a pistol after some burglars broke into his house in R.A. Bazaar area.

Talat Taqueer, another burglary victim, was deprived of six electric generators and other valuables after his shop was ransacked by burglars in the City police area.

Kashif Rana lodged a similar complaint with the Civil Lines police saying that some burglars broke into his house and took away 42 tolas of jewellery and prize bonds worth Rs40,000.
