Doctor beaten

Published October 5, 2008

LAHORE, Oct 4: Relatives of a patient allegedly manhandled a doctor at the emergency ward of Mayo Hospital on Saturday when he informed them that the patient had died on way to the health facility.

Khursheed Bibi, 60, was brought to the hospital at around 2:30pm on Saturday with no cardiac activity or pulse. Attempts by medical officer Dr Zeeshan Tariq and other house officers to resuscitate her bore no fruit.

Over two dozen attendants of Khursheed started thrashing Dr Zeeshan when he informed them about her death. They also misbehaved with the female house officers when they came to the rescue of Dr Zeeshan.

Later, medical officers and house officers on duty at various wards gathered at Mayo’s emergency to protest against the hospital administration’s failure to provide them security. — Staff Reporter
