MANSEHRA: Five of a family die in accident


MANSEHRA, Oct 4: Five members of a family were killed when their car plunged into a deep ravine near the Puttan area of the Kohistan district early Saturday morning.

The car carrying the five family members of Karora, Swat, was on its way back from the Dssuo area in Kohistan when the accident occurred at a sharp turn.

The Patton police said the bodies were shifted to a local hospital after retrieving from the ditch.

It is learnt that the accident happened early morning but some local people saw the vehicle in the afternoon and called police, who shifted the bodies to hospital.

According to APP news agency, three of the dead were identified as Hazrat Wali, son of Malik Aman, and two brothers Jaffar Shah and Hazrat Ali, sons of Qurban Shah.

Meanwhile, a man was killed on the pretext of honour here on Saturday, police said.

Mohammad Irshad and his accomplice Mohammad Nawaz allegedly shot dead Nawaz Ahmad, a resident of Lasain Nawab, at the main bus stop.

The city police have registered an FIR against the accused.

Sources said Mr Ahmad had married the sister of Mr Irshad without the consent of her parents some years ago and later sent her back to her home.Police handed over the body to the heirs after carrying out the autopsy at the District Headquarters Hospital in Mansehra.

QUAKE VICTIM: The body of a victim of the October 2005 earthquake was recovered on Saturday from the debris in the Kawai area of Balakot, it is learnt.

Mohammad Fareed had been buried alive under the debris when he was working in his fields.—Correspondent
