HARIPUR, Oct 4: A man was allegedly shot dead over a petty dispute in the jurisdiction of the city police station here.

City police quoted Sajid of village Sikandarpur as saying that his brother was at his shop when three drunkard persons namely Faisal, Mithoo and Sahni of Mohallah Baboo came there and started beating him without any reason. When he resisted the attackers opened fire with pistols injuring him seriously. The injured was removed to DHQ hospital where he succumbed to bullet wounds.

Meanwhile, a middle-aged man allegedly committed suicide in village Hattar here.

Police and family sources said that Mohammad Daud, 35, son of Ghulam Mohammad, was a chronic drinker and used to go haywire often and do aerial firing after having consumed alcohol.

However, on Friday night when he returned home drunk he resorted to aerial firing outside his room and than shot at his temple with a 30-bore pistol. When the family members reached the spot the drunkard man had already bled to death.
