ATTOCK, Sept 29: A five-member police team has been formed under the supervision of an SP to probe into the kidnapping of a polish engineer.

Headed by SP investigation Raja Hassan Akhtar, the team comprised DSP investigation Chaudhry Aslam, DSP Pindigheb circle Syed Zulfiqar Shah and the SHOs of Basal and Jand, sources said.

Soon after its formation, the team started an investigation into the incident in which unidentified gunmen kidnapped Polish engineer Peter Stanczak after killing his Frontier Constabulary guard and two drivers at the field area of a seismic survey company, Geofizvka Karkow, near Pind Sultani village of Jand tehsil on Sunday morning. So far, no clue has been found to the culprits.

A preliminary report has been sent by the district police to the authorities of the federal and Punjab governments, sources said.

Meanwhile, the Basal police have registered a kidnapping and triple murder case against unknown outlaws on the report of a company official Mr Shahid.

In a related development, the SHO of Basal, Inspector Faisal Manzoor Qazi, was transferred and asked to report to the district police lines.

He had been posted at the police station a few days back. However, sources said there was no fault of the local police, as the company management did not follow the prescribed security procedures in the wake of prevailing terrorism incidents in the country.

A sense of fear and uncertainty prevails among the foreign companies working in different parts of the district including Miyal, Khour, Dahkni and Durnol oil fields after the incident. Surprisingly, neither the district administration nor the local police issued details of any development or update on the case to the media.
