MIRPURKHAS: DPO denies payment of ransom

MIRPURKHAS, Sept 29: Rejecting reports regarding the payment of ransom for the recovery of a kidnapped trader, DPO Umerkot Abdul Hadi Bullo said that recovery of the man was result of the efforts made by the police.
He claimed to have arrested six suspects involved in the kidnapping of Khushhal Das Malhi from Nabisar two weeks back.
Talking to reporters at his office, the DPO said that the police had received information that the kidnappers had detained the victim in Rano Tar village taluka Kunri. Acting on the tip-off, the DPO said, he along with a heavy contingent of police surrounded the area on which the kidnappers managed to escape leaving their hostage.
He said that the very next day of the recovery, on the information obtained from the trader, he raided the house of Gulab Bheel in Ranotar village and arrested Manjhi, Jani, Togo, Dhano, Doulat and Manak Chandio.
During interrogation, they confessed that Gulab Bheel, Gulamoon Chandio, and Rajab Chandio had kidnapped Khushhal Das.
Khushhal Das told reporters that the kidnappers used to change places quite frequently. He also said that no ransom had been paid for his release.
The trader also gave Rs50, 000 to DPO Umerkot and Rs5,000 to the SHO Nabisar as reward.
PASSES AWAY: The former chairman of the municipal committee Mirpurkhas, Inamuddin Pirzada, died after protracted illness in a private hospital at Karachi on Sunday. He was 80.
He belonged to the PML-F and was also the former divisional president of the Pesticide and Fertilizer Agency Association, Mirpurkhas. His funeral was attended among others by leaders of the PML-F and MQM and elected representatives.
