Riis denies involvement in drugs scandal

VARESE (Italy), Sept 28: CSC team boss Bjarne Riis, who last year admitted to doping while winning the 1996 Tour de France, said on Sunday he had no involvement in Spain’s Operacion Puerto drugs scandal.

Luxembourg rider Frank Schleck, part of the Dane’s team, is to meet Luxembourg’s anti-doping body after reports said he was linked to the affair. Schleck, whose hotel was raided by Italian police on Friday, has said he has done nothing wrong. Riis did not deny that the rider’s name had come out in documents linked to the case but said he would wait for hard facts.—Reuters
