Factory staffers thrash health officials: Raid on fake beverages

SIALKOT, Sept 28: Owner of a fake beverage manufacturing factory and his accomplices thrashed the members of a health department team when it raided the installation in Douburji Malhiyaan locality.

The team consisting of district sanitary inspector, assistant sanitary inspector and other officials raided the factory and caught staffers preparing phony cold drinks. They also seized a huge cache of fake cold drinks.

Factory owner Arif and his companions Javaid, Mudassar, Bilal and Mian Akhtar later overpowered the officials and thrashed them.

Locals shifted the injured to Govt. Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital in critical condition. The Sadar police registered a case.

Meanwhile, Daska revenue DDO Fiaz Ahmad Mohal raided several filling stations and arrested Malik Rafaqat and Muhammad Anwar for selling adulterated petrol and diesel. The police registered separate cases.

THEFT: Thieves entered a utility store in Lorhiki village near Daska and fled after collecting goods worth Rs150, 000. The police registered a case.

CARGO: The Qatar Airways has announced launching its international cargo flights from Sialkot to Doha from Oct 27. Initially, the airline will operate a weekly flight between the two cities.

Officials of the Qatar Airways and management of the Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at a ceremony held here recently.

SIAL chairman Ghulam Mustafa Chaudhry, senior vice-chairman Dr. Sarfraz Bashir and general manager Muhammad Nawaz Chaudhry were present on this occasion.

SECURITY: Police have divided Sialkot district into two sectors and five sub-sectors under a security plan that is meant for Eidul Fitr.

Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, Sialkot District Police Officer Muhammad Ameen said 1,089 Eid congregations across the district would be provided security cover.

CASE REGISTERED: Daska City police have registered a case against a United Bank man for threatening a bank official on phone.

UBL official Waqas Naeem has been accused of hurling threats at UBL Gujranwala District Manager Muhammad Iqbal. Iqbal has got registered a fraud case against Naeem's uncle Tanveer and he is now behind the bars.

Naeem is allegedly pressing Iqbal to withdraw the case against Tanveer.
