Police re-arrest man cleared of robbery charges by court

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, Sept 28: Police rearrested on Saturday night a man who had been cleared of robbery charges by the Larkana circuit bench of the Sindh High Court on Sept 12, his brother Rahib Ali said on Sunday.

Rahib, a goldsmith, said that people told him that two policemen on a motorcycle had taken away his brother Badruddin Jamali when he was in a market near Naudero Chowk.

“We have visited several police stations in the city but have not found Badaruddin and also informed 15-police that two people in police uniform had kidnapped him but we have not received any response so far,” he said.

He said his brother worked with him at the shop.

The court had ordered his release on Sept 12 after police failed to produce any evidence against him and allowed him to file a case against Hyderabad police if he desired to do so.

Badaruddin’s father Sharfuddin Jamali alleged in a petition filed in the high court that the in-charge of CIA Larkana had arrested his son on Aug 26 after robbing the family of gold ornaments and hijacking their car.

The DPO (operation) and the SP (investigation) of Dadu told the court when the case came up for hearing about 20 days ago that Badruddin had been handed over to Hyderabad police because he was wanted in a case of robbery registered at the Fort police station.

The PDSP said in comments he had filed on behalf of Hyderabad DPO that Badruddin was nominated in a case of robbery lodged at Fort police station on Sept 10 bur the SHC bench of Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Syed Mehmood Alam Rizvi ordered Hyderabad police to produce him.

After finding no evidence against Badaruddin the division bench released him on Sept 12 for lack of evidence and asked police to hand over the seized car to the petitioner..

Rahib said that police had returned the car but after removing some valuable parts.
