Food dept reaches out to Pindi citizens with flour

RAWALPINDI, Sept 28: The food department on Sunday reached every nook and corner of the city with 43,000 bags of wheat flour ahead of Eidul Fitr on the directives of the Punjab government.
District Coordination Officer (DCO) Imdadullah Bosal, District Food Controller Rohail Butt and Food Department deputy director Sharjeel Mirza identified 52 residential locations in the city and cantonment areas as sale points where 86 trucks, each loaded with 500 20kg bags of wheat flour, were sent to enable consumers buy the staple food ahead of the Eid holidays. The food department officials remained at these sale points to closely monitor the situation.
District Food Controller Rohail Butt told Dawn that these sale points were in addition to the weekly bazaars, Model Bazaar near Cricket Stadium, and Sasta Bazaars where subsidized wheat flour was on sale. Mr Butt said the sale of wheat flour at these 52 locations would continue on Monday.
The special arrangements have been made in view of the Eid holidays next week and to keep a check on the black marketing of wheat flour. A big rush was seen at the sale points. The areas where wheat flour will continue to be sold on Monday are: Dhoke Kala Khan, Khanna Chowk, Muslim Town, Shakaryal Road, Committee Chowk, Churr Chowk, Baraf Khan Chowk, Hazara Colony, Raja Bazaar, Dhoke Hassu, Bakery Chowk, Dhoke Peeran Faqeeran, Chah Sultan, Bhabra Bazaar, Dhoke Syedan, Kohati Bazaar, Bangash Colony, Ziaul Haq Colony, Ghareebabad, Dhoke Mangtal, Dhoke Mustaqeem, Dhoke Chaudhrian, Shah Khalid Colony, Gowalmandi, Gulzar-i-Quaid, Gunjmandi, Banni Chowk, Mohanpura, Iqbal Town, Fauji Colony, Morgah, People’s Colony, Dhoke Kashmirian, Sir Syed Chowk, Jhanda Chichi, Commercial Market, Khayaban-i-Sir Syed, Pindora, Tench Bhata, Dhamyal Camp, Khawaja Corporation Chowk, Adiala Road, Dheri Hassanabad, Gulistan Colony, Gulraiz Colony, Waris Khan, Katarian Market and Christian Colony.
