2 shops gutted

RAWALPINDI, Sept 28: Two shops in China Market on College Road were gutted after a fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday, rescue services said.

Shortly after the fire broke out, the firefighters from Rescue 1122 reached the scene and started extinguishing the flames. An Rescue 1122 officer said fire that broke out in a shop containing tissue papers spread to the adjoining shop where labourers were offloading a container.

The firefighters controlled the flames before they engulfed the entire market and saved goods worth Rs500,000. The cause of the fire was short circuit.
