KARACHI: CPLC network to be expanded
By Our Staff Reporter
KARACHI, Sept 28: Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza has said that the network of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee will be extended to other parts of the province.
As part of the expansion programme the first office will be set up in Badin, the hometown of the minister.
This emerged during a visit of the home minister to the committee’s central reporting cell, where he was given a briefing by the CPLC chief Sharfuddin Memon. They discussed various issues concerning the crime situation in the city and the steps to enhance coordination between the CPLC and the police.
It was decided that police would keep a check on the unauthorised sale of SIMs while the mobile phone companies would be responsible for any misuse of unregistered SIMs.
The meeting also resolved that CPLC offices would assist complainants who faced difficulty in lodging the first information report.
The CPLC chief offered his assistance to upgrade the police call centre and for the e-policing project.
Claiming that he was impressed with the working as well as the methods and techniques employed by the CPLC, the minister reiterated that the facility should be expanded all over the province.
