ATTOCK, Sept 27: Six more dengue fever cases tested positive in Basal village of tehsil Jand on Saturday. Four of the patients are being kept in isolation ward of district headquarters hospital Attock.

With six more cases, the number of dengue fever patients has reached to eight as last Tuesday two dengue patients were admitted to the hospital, but they were discharged on Saturday when they showed sign of improvement.

The medical superintendent of district headquarters (DHQ) hospital Attock Dr Khalid Mehmood Khan on Saturday said after the detection of two dengue fever cases from Basal village, the district health department constituted monitoring teams which carried out survey in the area.

The teams traced 18 patients with symptoms of dengue fever and sent their blood samples to National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad, which confirmed dengue virus in six patients--Farhad Ali Basal, Usman, Bibi Malika Nasreen, Nawasish, Amir Sultan and Sheraz Ahmed.

Health department claimed that the monitoring teams are engaged in carrying out survey in their respective areas to trace any suspect reporting to public or private health facility. They will also provide latest information about the disease to the medics.
