KARACHI: More centres for heart patients

KARACHI, Sept 27: In view of increasing population of the city, the establishment of more medical centres and upgradation of existing hospitals is the need of the hour.

Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed stated this while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a 50-bed hospital in Federal B Area, Block 10, on Saturday.

The minister said that due to traffic problems in Karachi patients in critical conditions and especially heart patients often face difficulties in reaching hospitals.

Because of that problem the government had decided to establish cardiology centres in different parts of the city to provide prompt medical aid and treatment, he said.

Dr Sagheer said cardiology centres would be set up at Sindh Government Hospital Korangi, Orangi Town and Liaquatabad.

The minister said private hospitals were contributing towards the provision of medical facilities to the people. He was of the view that hospitals that provide treatment at reasonable rates have a good public image.—APP
