SHEIKHUPURA, Sept 26: The Ferozewala police have arrested six drug traffickers after a shootout and recovered 23 kilogrammes of hashish from them on Friday.

On a tip-off that drugs were being transported in a car coming to Lahore from Rawalpindi, the police signalled a suspected car on G.T Road but its riders opened fire on the police party.

The police, however, overpowered the peddlers later identified as Saeed, Ijaz, Adnan, Asim, Abid, Ashraf, and Waris and seized contraband from their possession. They were wanted to Lahore, Rawalpindi and Ferozewala police in various cases.

KILLED: A motorcyclist, Qadir, was killed when a dumper hit the two-wheeler he was riding on near Dala Wagaha on Narang Road. The Sadar police are investigating.

ROBBERY: Two robbers intercepted a fertilisers' dealer, Abdul Rehman, near Bhart and deprived him of Rs150,000 in cash and valuables. The victim had withdrawn the amount from a bank. The Ferozewala police are investigating.
