Adnan shines at AKU Twenty20 event


KARACHI, Sept 25: Adnan Jafferi blasted an aggressive century to guide the AKU Staff ‘A’ team to the AKU Twenty20 Ramazan cricket tournament semi-finals, as they defeated Inbox Business Technology (IBT) by 41 runs at the AKU Ground on Wednesday.

Adnan struck ten boundaries and five sixes in his unbeaten 105 off just 54 deliveries as AKU ‘A’, batting first, piled up 224 for three in the allotted 20 overs. Rahim Suleman contributed an enterprising 51 in 29 balls.

The IBT, in reply, were bowled out for 183 in 18.3 overs. Ghayyas Khan made 56 and Sumair Aziz scored 39.

In a match played on Tuesday, opener Usman Farhat hit an aggressive half-century as Dubai Islamic Bank beat Old Grammarian Society by 36 runs to enter the last-four round.

Usman made a scintillating 89 off 51 deliveries studded with 11 boundaries and four sixes while Ahmer Farooqi hit four boundaries in his 33 as Dubai Islamic Bank posted 185 for four in the stipulated 20 overs.

The Old Grammarians, in response, were dismissed for 149 in 18.5 overs. Farhan Asif cracked four boundaries in his 33.
