UN may raise security level

ISLAMABAD, Sept 25: The United Nations system in Pakistan is likely to raise the security level for staff operating in Islamabad to Level 3, just short of evacuating non-essential staff.

“The country team is meeting on Friday to review the security situation and to deicide whether the security level for Islamabad has to be raised,” a senior UN official told Dawn on Thursday.

If security is raised to Level 3, it would be a major step, the official said.—Staff Reporter
