Shujaat seeks APC on security threats

GUJRAT, Sept 25: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-i-Azam (PML-Q) president Shujaat Husain has called upon the political parties to shun their differences for national integrity and get united on one-point agenda of 'save Pakistan' from internal and external threats.

He was addressing a big gathering on the eve of the 26th death anniversary of his father Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi, a Muslim Leaguer, here on Thursday.

MNA Chaudhry Wajahat Husain, district nazim Shafaat Husain and party workers from across the country were present at the occasion.

Shujaat urged the government to convene an all parties' conference (APC) on country's security situation.

He said it was the need of the hour to prefer national interest to personal interest and for that his party was ready to sit along all other parties.

He advised Asif Zardari to be 'president of the entire nation' rather than of one province.

Criticising the Punjab government for its crackdown on PML-Q workers in Gujrat, Shujaat said: "Political victimisation is not a new thing for the party and activists are ready to face any worst situation due to the policies of the PML-N and PPP in Punjab."

He alleged that the Feb 18 elections were not completely transparent as some bigwigs of the PML-Q were intentionally defeated and the results had already been prepared ahead of the polls.

He termed his defeat in the elections a conspiracy.

Later on, Begum Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi and Shujaat Husain inaugurated the newly constructed Zahoor Elahi medical complex at Aziz Bhatti Shaheed hospital.

Funds for the construction of the complex and provision of the latest equipment were provided by the Zahoor Elahi family.
