KARACHI: Measures taken to tighten security: CM

KARACHI, Sept 25: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that law and order and improvement in the economy are two top priorities of his government.
“The law and order situation in the province is far better than what he had inherited while many measures have already been taken by Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari to boost the economy,” he said.
The chief minister, who hosted an Iftar party for media men on Thursday at the chief minister’s house, responding to different questions said against the backdrop of the Marriott Hotel tragedy in Islamabad all possible measures had been taken to beef up security around all important buildings and installations.
He said the government was determined to safeguard economic interests of the province in accordance with the constitutional provisions and for that purpose the government had taken up the issue of forming of the Council of Common Interests.Mr Shah said his government was accountable to the people if it deviated from the Constitution and the provisions of law. “We are determined to safeguard the resources of Sindh,” he added.
The chief minister said teachers were also being recruited on merit so that education standard could be improved.
