Acting CJP takes oath

ISLAMABAD, Sept 24: Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan, the senior most judge of the Supreme Court, will take oath on Thursday to function as Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan in the absence of Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar who is leaving for Umra.

Justice Raza will be sworn in by Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokhar.

Justice Raza is among four judges who took fresh oath on Sept 20 in the second phase of reappointment to become judges of the Supreme Court with their seniority intact. Others who also took oath are Justice Nasirul Mulk, Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany.

Justice Raza was one of the senior judges who were sent home by Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf when as army chief he proclaimed emergency rule in the country on November 3, last year.
