Asif leads from the front

KARACHI, Sept 23: Captain Asif Siddiqui excelled with the bat and ball to steer Dubai Islamic Bank to an emphatic seven-wicket win over Aga Khan University Staff “A” in the AKU Twenty20 Ramazan cricket tournament at the AKU Ground on Sunday.

Asif claimed two wickets for 19 and then slammed an unbeaten 46 off 32 balls with two fours and as many sixes in Dubai Islamic Bank’s triumph. AKU Staff ‘A’, batting first, managed 140 for eight in the allotted 20 overs. Adnan Jafri hit 41 off 32 balls with two boundaries. Mohammad Zeeshan secured three wickets for 37.

Dubai Islamic Bank, in reply, reached the target in 14.5 overs for the loss of three wickets. Besides Asif’s unbeaten knock, Usman Farhat hammered seven boundaries and two sixes in his attacking 54 as he faced 30 deliveries.
