Train link with Quetta cut as track blown up

Dawn Report

QUETTA, Sept 23: Train service to and from Quetta was suspended after a portion of main railway track was blown up in Sariab late on Tuesday night.

Police said an explosive device, planted under the main track, was detonated near the Pirkaniabad area of Sariab.

“About a two-foot portion of the track was blown up by the powerful explosion that rocked the Quetta city,” a railway official said.

Protest over killings

The Hazara Democratic Party has accused police and some influential people of protecting the elements involved in recent killings of five members of their community. Activists of the party protested against the killings and held a demonstration outside the press club.
