By Faiz Muhammad

CHARSADDA, Sept 23: Two of the militants who had besieged the Saro police station demanding release of their comrade were killed by security forces in a fierce clash on Tuesday. Two others were arrested.

The clash was reported to be continuing till late in the night. Security forces said that a militant ‘commander’ called Nisar had been injured.

A curfew has been imposed and forces are patrolling the area.

Meanwhile, a paramilitary soldier was killed and six others were wounded when militants attacked a security van with a rocket in the Pir Qilla area of Shabqadar.

The attack was followed by a heavy exchange of fire and according to local people, helicopter gunships bombed militants’ hideouts in Michani. The security forces called in reinforcements to dislodge the militants whose ranks swelled after the arrival of a large number of militants from the adjoining Mohmand Agency.
