NAWABSHAH: Passengers robbed

NAWABSHAH, Sept 23: Armed bandits robbed passengers of a Multan-bound coach near Doulatpur on the National Highway on Tuesday.

Reports reaching here said that four armed men who were travelling in the coach like other ordinary passengers overpowered the driver and passengers at gunpoint when the bus neared Nawabshah and deprived them of cash, jewellery and other valuable belongings before escaping near Doulatpur.

The enraged passengers blocked the highway after the robbery suspending traffic for an hour. They said that the government had completely failed to provide security to common man. They were going home to celebrate Eid but now they had nothing left with them, they wailed. The SHO of Doulatpur reached the highway and persuaded the protesters to open the road for traffic. He assured them that their belongings would be recovered.—BoC
