MIRPURKHAS, Sept 23: District Nazim Dr Sughra Junejo ordered cancellation of a contract between the district government and administration of the People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI) here on Tuesday.

The Mirpurkhas district council had passed a resolution a few days back, demanding cancellation of this contract.

Under this contract, funds of dispensaries, basic health units, Unani Shafa Khana etc. were diverted to the district administration of PPHI Mirpurkhas programme by district government of Mirpurkhas to provide medical facilities at patients door steps.

Deputy district office law Jan Ali Junejo and EDO health Khadim Hussain Lakhair confirmed the issuance of order by the district nazim to cancel the contract between district government and PPHI.

Following the issuance of order to cancel this contract, dozen of employees of PPHI, including seven lady doctors would be deprived of their jobs.

A few days back district naib nazim Dr Zafar Ahmed Kamali and Awam Dost member district council Ali Mardan Shah were beaten up by the officials of PPHI in their office. On the same day, district council passed a resolution demanding of the government to cancel the contract with PPHI .

ACCIDENT: Two villagers were killed when a speedy tractor collided head on with a pickup at Tando Adam road near Mirpurkhas in the jurisdiction of Khaan police station here on Tuesday.

As a result of the accident two villagers Mashooq Ali and Mohammed Younus Khaskheli sustained serious injuries, were removed to the Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas where they breathed their last. The tractor driver fled leaving the tractor behind.
