Shahid’s last-gasp strike earns draw for Lal Bakhsh: Premier League Football
By Our Sports Reporter
KARACHI, Sept 22: An 84th minute goal by Shahid Baloch enabled District South champions Lal Bakhsh Memorial to save themselves from sure defeat against Hazara Mohammadan in KASB Premier League Football’s 37th match played at the CDGK Stadium on Sunday night.
Lal Bakhsh’s strikers Naseer Ahmed, Jan Alam, Mohammad Ayaz and Mohammad Baloch’s constant attacks on Hazara’s goal earned them the first goal in the seventh minute when striker Naseer Ahmed converted a right-side cross pass from Jan Alam.
Hazara M’Dan’s skipper Naeem Khan then made a change in his side by making stopper Zahoor Ahmed play in the striker’s position. The 26th minute saw Zahoor taking full advantage of a misunderstanding between Lal Bakhsh’s defender Mohammad Ameen and goalkeeper Gulzar Hussain to restore parity.
Hazara’s left-winger Auragzeb then got control of midfielder Naeem Khan’s through pass to escort it towards the goal in the 45th minute to make the score to 2-1 at interval.
Revenge from Lal Bakhsh Memorial came in the 60th minute when their striker Mohammad created an opportunity for fellow striker Naseer Ahmed from an ideal position just outside the penalty box, which he quickly cashed in on while leaving behind a bewildered Hazara goalkeeper Mohammad Irfan.
Then in the 68th minute, Striker Zahoor Ahmed came to Hazara’s rescue once again by confusing Lal Bakhsh’s defenders and goalkeeper and scoring again for his side. The 3-2 score was changed to 3-3 in the final minutes of the match by Lal Bakhsh when they got a free kick outside the penalty box which their striker Shahid Baloch converted through a powerful shot that landed into the goal from keeper Mohammad Irfan’s left.
After playing five matches each Lal Bakhsh Memorial have two points from two draws and three losses, taking them to the 14th position while Hazara M’Dan are 10th with four points from one win and one draw.
